After watching the video with Susan Kare about iconography and the process behind creating icons, I learned that there is much more thought that goes into creating simple icons than I initially realized. I looked into icon design on Behance and came across this “icon pack” that is pandemic themed which I thought was highly relevant. Now that I better understand the thought process behind designing icons, I appreciate the simplicity and universality of these “pandemic icons” that have just the right amount of detail. The one criticism I have of the filled-line icons is that the icons of faces are only fair-skinned. In order to make this icon pack more universal, I think the artist should include a wider range of skin colors for the icons.
