Loading Animations 101

It is interesting to think about the fact that loading animations should have the goal of being shown to the user for as short of a time as possible, yet there is a lot of thought and effort that goes into make a good loading animation. This article highlights some of the main considerations that should be made when designing a loading animation and also dives into small details that can make a big difference in user experience. Additionally, it has a short section at the beginning that explains a brief history of loading animations and it is crazy that designers as far back as 1985 were thinking about how to make waiting the least painful for users.
